Dude looks like a lady January 28, 2009

Last night we had to convince Nash that Barack Obama was, in fact, the first African American President.  He was sure someone as great as Martin Luther King had to have been a president.  (and I applaud his thought process on the matter) Once we had that all sorted out he said “Maybe some day there will be another girl president”.  Huh?  So we reminded him that there actually hasn’t been a female president – yet.  But he said, “Yes there was, the 32nd president was a girl.”  Huh?  No, he wasn’t.  That was Franklin D. Roosevelt who was definitely a man.  “Nope.  I’ll show you.”  So off we ran to the kitchen to get this:

41d1nr7n3hl_sl500_aa250_We’re a family of multi-taskers and  like to learn while we eat so Nash has a bunch of different place mats which apparently he has been intently studying while munching on his Frosted Flakes.  He is still convinced that this is a girl:

(forgive my iphone phototgraphy….)

So he finally accepted that this IS a guy but is sticking with his looks-like-a-girl theory.   How he let the wig wearing presidents of the 18th century off the hook is beyond me but hey, I won’t complain.  At the end of the day, he’s still learning something, right?

So funny…. Ben has a stack of President flash cards with photos on one side and facts on the other, when he gets to Martin Van Buren, he switches gears (and, of course, he thinks he’s funny) and reads the facts beginning with “She”… “She was the 8th president”, “She served only one term”. You get the idea. You can’t convince him that he was not in fact a she. I think it may be the powdered wigs.

Those placemats are great! That made me laugh-
